Studies on Pathology and Repairs

Our comprehensive operations in the field of structure pathology are designed to provide customers with a full response to any problem (need) that may arise due to damage to the structure. INCOSA staff solve this problem through the study, design and implementation of reinforcement solutions that remove the risk and address the causes, provided these are not of an extraordinary nature (catastrophes, accidents…)

These operations may likewise be applicable when the aim is to change the use of the structure or modify its boundary conditions (amount and/or nature of the loads…)

The Area of Pathology pursues its operations in three different ambits, which are necessarily interrelated:

  • Special studies
    • Diagnostic studies on structural pathologies
    • Studies on the repair of structural pathologies
    • Studies on changes in use
    • Load bearing capacity studies and safety coefficients for structures
    • Durability studies
Santa María de Valdedios (Asturias)
  • Instrumentation This is a computer-imaging technique that provides an extremely accurate determination of a structure’s movements and strains. Sophisticated software is used to monitor these movements in real time and by remote control. This technique is very useful for:

    • Monitoring all the stages in the development of a pathology
    • Locating the cause of a pathology
    • Determining a structure’s tension state
    • Real-time monitoring of the movements caused by interference on the structure or by work in the vicinity
    • Controlling the effectiveness of reinforcements
    • Control of specific processes, such as, for example, the raising of bridge decks.
